Ford is Dumb – No Fiesta for the US
Ford’s aim was to make an Eco friendly car in the Fiesta. It’s a cool little automobile with the ability to seat up to five people and get 65 MPG. This is a grerat little car, the only problem is it won’t be available for sale in America.
The little Fiesta could definately with other fuel efficient cars in the American market, yet Ford will only be selling these overseas. The America Ford President reportedly stated that there were business reasons as to why they can’t sell it to the US and left it at that.
The American population has adverse thoughts on diesel, this is why Ford is not bringing the car to the US. We ger stateside still have the view that diesels are gross polluters according to Ford.
Diesel cars let out much less toxic particles than a regular gas powered car while getting up to 30% better gas mileage. Ford has a car that gets over 60 miles per gallon, yet they won’t bring it to the US? Ford feels like the America’s will not buy diesel cars. The Fiesta diesel is equal to the best European diesels but probably would not sell good here in America; according to Ford.
Ford believes that the could not make any money on selling the Fiesta, and the fact that the Fiesta is made in Britian does not help.The main problem is will American’s ever see Diesel as an alternative to regular gas, enought so that car makers will make a profit on Diesel cars?Does Ford know what the Volkswagen Jetta TDi is. The Jetta costs about what the Fiesta would cost, gets only 41 MPG on the highway as compared to the Fiesta’s 65 MPG, and finally the Jetta has received numerous accolades for being an ultra green car.Volkswagen is loving the fact that there is not other diesel passenger car to compete with.
